Personal Statement

Hello, I'm Tya’tianna Johnson. I love to play sports and be active, but mostly, I love to participate in Track & Field here at Seneca Valley High School in Germantown, MD. I am currently the 2012-2013 Outdoor Track & Field Triple Jump County Champion in addition to the 2013-2014 Indoor Track & Field Long Jump runner up. Last season, I was awarded as the Girl’s Most Valuable Player and now I’ve been recognized for gaining the most points for the Girl’s team as well.

I have been competing since 2012 when I first joined the Seneca Valley High School Track team as a freshman in High School and I’ve dreamed of doing the same in college ever since. For that reason I’ve since competed in the Penn Relays, USATF Potomac Valley Junior Olympics and the Youth Holiday Classic at the New York Armory. I have also competed in the High School 3A State meet for all the seasons since I was a sophomore. I have been a part of two regional winning relays this past indoor season and our Girl’s team has become the runner up for the MPSSAA 3A West Regional Championships.

As an individual, I train hard throughout the year and I am always seeking new ways to improve my marks. I carry myself as a team leader and try to be coachable and hardworking. I would love to go to a school that will allow me to be a part of their jumping teams because I know that I will be able to help my team.

In the classroom, I study hard in order to maintain a high GPA of 3.61 despite rigorous International Baccalaureate and Honors courses and challenging schedules. I also take action as the President of the Junior Class of 2015 and actively participate in school clubs such as the National Honor Society and Tom’s Club.

I intend to major in anything to do with foreign language; preferably, Language, Literature and Linguistics being that it is my desire to go to the Military and become a Linguist.

For all that, I want to find a college to run and jump for where I can not only challenge myself in the classroom, but also make an everlasting impact on my team. I am open to all options and want to find the right college in which I can display my capabilities as a jumper. In the end, I will become the best student-athlete I can be no matter what and strive to make my peers, siblings and parents proud.

By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
