Personal Statement
My name is Cynthia Kipserem from Rockville, Maryland. I run for Richard Montgomery High school. I'm a junior and will be graduating in the year 2016. I started my journey of running my freshman year. At first, I joined the cross-country team just to stay active. I had a time of 27:27 on the home course my freshman year, i was among the slowest girls on the team, however, I never gave up. The more I ran the more i saw my times dropping down. I worked hard throughout my freshman and sophomore years and gave it my all, but I still wasn't an outstanding runner. The summer of my junior year, i decided that to work like never before, I needed to get out of my comfort zone and do things I never did. I dedicated my whole summer to training with people who pushed me to my limits. I went back to school for the fall season and I surprised everyone myself included. I gained respect from my coach and teammates. During workouts, I lead my teammates. We had the same time trial on the home course and I had a time of 19:57, a whole 7-minute improvement. I'm excited to see what I'll do the rest of my high school carrier
Not only do I work hard in cross-country, but in class as well. I was able to maintain a GPA of 3.5. I like challenging myself and I'm currently taking Honors/AP classes. I was an all year round honor roll student since freshman year, Stand Tall and Reach(STAR) scholarship award, member of the National Honor Society (NHS) and the presidential academic achievement award. I also volunteer at a Senior assisted living.
I'm looking for that will make me compete at the highest level possible. I am open to look at all my options possible and find the right fit for me. I believe that I am a coachable runner and ready to improve tremendously. I thank God for blessing me with the ability to run, and the drive to make it to the next level. I hope as you view my profile, I'll be a prospect for your team.
