My love for running began when I first participated in a running program in the 4th grade. Sometime during my middle school years I developed the desire to compete and quickly realized that the amount of work I put in translated into success. The results were sometimes rewarding and sometimes disappointing. These experiences drive me to be the best I can be everytime I step on to the field or the track. My coaches have described me as being a “coachable” athlete. I have always taken this as a compliment but it wasn’t until recently did I truly appreciate what it meant. As an upper classman, I’m embracing a leadership role on my team. I pride myself on always having a good work ethic, being on time, prepared, and bringing my passion to the sport that I love. My hope is that I will inspire my teammates to do the same and together we can achieve our goals. My coach always talks about the importance of being a part of a team and to always care more about each other than ourselves. This is something that motivates me to be the best I can be as a runner and teammate. As a member of a team that embodies this culture we have been able to inspire each other to accomplish more than we ever could have alone.
