Personal Statement
Having never run before, I had no idea what to expect when I joined the cross country team but wanted to get involved at my high school and make new friends. My background was Irish dance and I competed in Europe at the World Championships four times. I quickly realized that running was going to replace my love of dance. I would never have dreamed that I would have become so obsessed with this sport and want to continue running in college. I have been so lucky to be surrounded by such inspiring teammates and coaches. Without their support, encouragement and training I would not be the runner I am today. Running at the state championships each year has allowed me to compete against the best and inspired me to be the best I can be. I am incredibly disciplined and as focused on nutrition as I am on running. The experiences I have had in the short time I have been running are amazing. Winning two state titles my sophomore year is something I will never forget and something I want to repeat. I plan to continue to develop as a runner and to participate at the collegiate level after high school. I know with my work ethic and dedication I will continue to get better and better each year.
