Personal Statement
Many details in my life have influenced me as an individual. My first influence and by far the best is God. He has shaped me to become the Christian I am today. God has blessed me with the gift to run and the opportunities to have coaches (like you) look at my profile! My second influences are my amazing parents. They push me, and allow me to achieve goals of running and academic success with confidence and faith. I became interested in track when I tried out for the middle school track team in 7th grade. Before 7th grade, I had no prior knowledge of running. I have always been interested in cross-country. However, this used to conflict with marching band, preventing the opportunity to run cross-country. I did marching band for 3 years and began to run cross-country this year to exceed my running abilities. I also joined the swim team this winter to diversify my strength and conditioning.
Through playing my sports, I have learned that hard work determines success, and success determines how good you can be. My academic goals for 11th grade are to keep straight A’s, boost my 4.74 GPA, and become a junior marshal for my grade. My goals for college are to receive academic and running scholarships. I plan to go to a school that best fits my interests. I have had to overcome many obstacles to get where I am now. I have had to work hard, train hard, deal with injuries and push myself to become the best I can be. There is no great story about a runner without a few bumps in the road. I am a unique individual! I strive to become the best I can be. I will not stop until I reach my goals. Running is a part of who I am, and I would not be where I am today without it.
