I never thought I would be into Track & Field the way I am. I always thought I would be stuck on playing basketball. My frist year in middle school our High School (Jones Senior High School) had just received a new track. I was told over and over when Im on the court I was like a gnat because I was fast. I thought I could give track a try after all I thought it was just running.
My frist track meet my coach made me do the mile. I looked at my coach and said "coach I can't do a mile, I sprint not run". He said" just try it you might be good at it". I knew I wasn't in shape and couldn't do four whole laps. I went gave my all, even though I walked a lap. My coach said "you might have came in last but you tried" I wanted to quit Track all togther, but I knew I was going to get my chance to shine. Every since middle school I have been doing Track, my events are; 100m Dash 4x100 4x200 and Long jump which I started this year. I also run summer track under USATF. My Track club is Track Eastern Carolina, where my coach is Dave Simpson. I also learned Track & Field isn't JUST RUNNING, it comes with technique, strength, etc. My last two years in school I really want to get my name known as a "sprinter". I have attended NCHSAA State Track and Field Meets the past two years, hoping to make it four. I also have attended New Balance Nationals. I just hope to continue Track & Field after High school. Which I know brings hard work and I'm ready to put the work out!
