Personal Statement
I am currently a junior at Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake (BHBL) High School, located about thirty miles north of Albany, New York. This is my first year attending this school. I specifically targeted BHBL because of its long standing reputation for academic and athletic excellence.
Academically, my GPA is 98.128 and I am ranked 2nd in my class of 281 students. I continue to challenge myself by enrolling in the most rigorous courses available, including honors and advanced placement classes. My combined SAT scores are well above average (1400 reading & math, 2050 including writing), and I plan on taking the ACT in the very near future.
As an athlete, I have played at the varsity level since 8th grade, participating in soccer, cross-country and track. I have devoted my full attention to running since 9th grade. In 2013 I was voted by the coaches as the most valuable runner for cross country, and in early March of 2014 I was selected as the most valuable runner for our indoor track team. On March 23rd of this year, I was selected as Section 2 Indoor Track Athlete of the Year. Since moving into the BHBL district in September of 2013, I have become stronger and faster, and I am confident my skill level will continue to improve.
When I am not studying or training, I choose to remain active by helping others. I have been an executive officer in student government, an active member of National Junior Honor Society, and continue to tutor other students who struggle academically.
I approach my academic and athletic careers with dedication and conviction. At the collegiate level, I am seeking to develop a cooperative relationship that will continue to foster my drive for excellence in all areas.
