Personal Statement
*******Recruiting Update: May 17, 2014 ********
Amber has committed and signed a National Letter of Intent to compete on a track and field scholarship at (Division I) La Salle University in Philadelphia.
To all of the coaches and schools which recruited, visited and hosted her on official and unofficial visits; the entire Jenkins family would like to say, "Thank you" for an exciting and amazing three years on the recruiting trail. The college recruiting process was long but rewarding.

*Mid-Late June Summary - Amber received the following athletic/academic awards: Egg Harbor Township High School Scholar Athlete Award, 2014 Schoppy Award, EHTHS Track Team MVP Award/plaque, Neiderlein Mcabe Old Grad Award (Atlantic County's Best Female athlete) runner up plaque and silver watch, Runner up for the Press of Atlantic City Female Athlete of the year, Named 1st Team all Press by The Press of Atlantic City. Finally, Amber was offered over $300,000+ in total athletic and academic funds from schools to which she had applied and was accepted.
*Early June Summary - At the two day State meet, Amber took home two medals and narrowly missed a third by placing: 2nd (4 X 100m), 4th (4 X 400) and 12th (200m) dash. Amber qualified for three relays at the 2014 New Balance Nationals. Her relays posted the following finishes: 4 X 100 (16th), 4 X 200 (9th), and 4 X 400 (16th).
*May 23-24, During the 2-day state sectional meet Amber garnered (4) four medals including: 1st place in 4 x 100m relay (49.23), 2nd place in the 4 X 400m relay (58.04 split), 3rd place in the 100m dash (12.64), and 4th place in the 200m dash (25.73)
*May 20th Amber ran a PR in the 200 meter dash crossing the finish line in a time of 25.5 seconds and returned 20 minutes later to help the 4 X 400 m relay team remain undefeated for the season and win the 2014 Cape Atlantic League Championship
*May 15th Amber became the 2014 100m and 200m dash champion of the Cape Atlantic League
*May 8, Amber became the Atlantic County 100m dash Champion a with a FAT time of 12.66. She also placed a close 2nd (.01) in the 200m dash in a time of 25.92, In her final event of the night she lead off the 4 X 100 m relay which placed 1st in a time of 49.07
*May 4, Amber again ran the leadoff leg of the 4 X 100m relay which set a school record with a time of 48.63 to again reach the podium.
*May 3, Amber reached the podium with a 2nd place finish (amongst nearly 100 runners) at the 2014 Rowan University Girls open, her time was 12.59
*April 19, Amber's 4 X 200m relay team finished first, set a new school record (1:44.74) and each won a gold watch at the Woodbury Relays in New Jersey.
*April 12, 2014 at the West Deptford Relays Amber was the lead off runner (split 12.02) in the 4 X 100m relay which finished 1st place overall and recorded a meet record and school record with a time of 49.37.
*Amber opened the 2014 outdoor track season running a hand-timed 25.6 (200m) in a season opening dual meet at Mainland Regional high school.
Winter track season in review: Amber competed in several marquee events including the 55m dash at the 80th Annual Eastern States Meet, the 55m dash at the NJ Group 4 Sectionals and the state group championships running a 1:00.13 (split) in the 1600 meter (relay). At sectionals she was the #2 ranked 55m dash runner in Group 4. In January, she placed 1st overall at the South Jersey Track Coaches Association meet (55m dash) with a time of 7.49 F.A.T. and returned 30 minutes later to anchor her 4 X 400m relay team to victory with a 60.31 split. Two weeks prior, she split 26.59 in the sprint medley at the Olympic Conference meet and ran a solid 26.4 in the 4 X 200m relay.* In a SJTCA Meet 55m dash race in late December she found herself in a race with two of her club-track teammates; Torie Robinson of Winslow Twp. (US#2) and Cidea Woods also of Winslow Twp. HS (NJ #7). Amber wound up in 3rd place overall, finishing with a time of 7.51 F.A.T.. To start the indoor season in early December she competed in the 55m dash during the first week of the Colgate Women's Games in New York City, winning both of her heats in the prelims and second round then roared to a 10th place overall finish amongst 120 runners with a time of 7.40 ********
* Last summer (2013) she returned from an injury in time to advance to the AAU Regional Finals (200m) and also qualified for the 2013 AAU Jr Olympic Nationals in Detroit, Michigan (4 X 400 relay) and her relay team (Winslow Elite Track Club) placed 14th in the country.

I am Amber Jenkins and I attend Egg Harbor Township High School (class of 2014) in Egg Harbor Township, NJ which is one of New Jersey's largest schools with almost 3,000 students. I look forward to learning and competing at the next level. I take challenging college preparatory and honors classes each year (3.54 G.P.A). I will have seven (7) transferable college credits prior to my high school graduation since I am enrolled in tow (2) dual credit courses at Atlantic Cape Community College.
I compete in both varsity track and field and soccer. Presently, I have built what I believe are respectable academic and athletic resumes; both of which I hope merit your consideration of me as a recruit for your college or university.
