I am determined to succeed in everything I do whether it be academics or sports. Sports have always been a part of my life. When I entered Washington Township High School(2012-2013), I had only competed in youth track events, and I decided to try-out for the Volleyball team. I had never played competitive Volleyball before. I studied the game, and I made the JV team. Although I enjoyed the sport, my real passion was track. I competed in the Winter Track Season (2012-2013), and then, I ran spring track (2013). During Spring Track 2013, I met Coach Richard Boswick who became instrumental in encouraging me to run in further distance races. I was determined to advance my skills. During my 10th grade season (2013-2014), I decided to devote myself to track, and I ran Cross Country for the first time. I ran my Personal Best of 20:13 placing 1st in the Buena Meet. My spring 2014 season started out good, but unfortunately, I suffered a stress fracture of my tibia after the Woodbury Relays in April. I have been healing, and keeping up with my core training. Since I have been in the pool a lot, I have used the time to become a Certified Lifeguard. I am taking things slow, and I hoped to compete in the Fall 2014 Cross Country Season. Unfortunately, my stress fracture prevented me from competing. I was chosen to be the Varsity Team Captain, and I did my best to encourage my teammates. I am concentrating on being at my best for the Spring 2015. My determination, my persistence, and my positive attitude through injury has helped to make me a stronger person. I am starting to run again, work on my core training, and I have been swimming. For the Winter 2015, I will be competing on my High School swim team, and I will continue to improve my running skills for the Spring Season. I feel that I can be an asset to any team and to any university.
