Hi! My name is Madelyn (Maddie) Doerr, and I would like to introduce myself. I am a 15 year old Freshman from Las Vegas, Nevada. I run Varsity Cross Country and Track for Desert Oasis High School. As a freshman, I have already been very successful competing in the toughest Division in Southern Nevada. Some of my accomplishments include being awarded the "Top Female Runner" in Cross Country for the 2015-2016 season, and the first female to qualify for the Nevada State Cross Country Championships, as a freshman, in the history of Desert Oasis High School. I am very excited about the 2016 Track season. In my very first meet I broke the Desert Oasis High School record for 1600m run with a time of 5:19. In the same meet, I posted a 2:28 in the 800m run. I also anchor the 4X800m relay team. I plan to break my high schools current records in those events, as well as my own personal records. My goal in high school is to become the Nevada State Champion in my events.
Prior to high school, in my youth track club, my specialties were the 800M, 1500M and 3000M, where I was extremely successful. I earned 3 individual medals at the 2014 AAU Jr. Olympic Games in Des Moines, IA. I have listed my Club accomplishments below.
I am very passionate and dedicated to running. I love the way it makes me feel, like I can do anything - as if I am unstoppable. When I run, all of my troubles and worries suddenly disappear. I appreciate running because it challenges me, and there is always another goal to reach. One of my strongest character traits is my determination. I'm determined to complete tasks with the best of my ability, even when people doubt me. This applies to both my athletic and academic studies as well. I am a team player. I know how to talk to people properly and kindly. I always try to do my very best for my team, and work hard to inspire and encourage my teammates to do the same.
Outside of sports, I am focusing on my academics. I am currently considering a Major in Psychology with an emphasis in Sports Psychology/Counseling. I also like to focus on giving back to local community, and I occasionally volunteer for the American Heart Society, and attend various events.
In closing, my goal is to continue to compete at a high level during my high school career, and eventually earn a spot on a Division I or II College Cross Country and Track team. I would love to hear from you, and answer any additional question you may have. Thank you for your time and consideration.
