I have been a student athlete since elementary school. I would like to continue my athletic career into college. Balancing academics, sports & family obligations has been very important to my overall well-being. Our family moved to Cleveland just before my 9th grade year of high school. A new school, new town and new friends inspired me to try a new sport, field hockey. I enjoyed the team relationship and fast pace of this game. My sophomore year, I played both field hockey and varsity cross country simultaneously. As a runner, I was able to have a greater impact for the team. My times helped qualify the XC team for districts and regionals, first time in school history in +30 years. I was voted MVP for XC. My junior year, I made the decision to focus solely on XC;I qualified as an individual for Regionals. Today, I am a rising senior and varsity team captain for XC. My goal is to get my team through regionals and break our school records. Although Cross Country has never been the most popular sport at Hathaway Brown, I believe that is changing. There are more girls joining every year. Our team is made up of many different kinds of girls. Some of us only know each other through XC and yet, we support each other every week, rain or shine. My goal is to leave a legacy that represents strong athletic performance, outstanding academics and the benefits of team support. I believe all three of these qualities are important for success on and off the field.
