Personal Statement
Hard work.
I live by these two words. Whether it is studying on the bus to a meet, match, or game; working on my pole vault technique year-round; or playing middle blocker on the varsity volleyball team (at 5ft 6in), I believe that hard work is key. Hard work has enabled me to maintain a 4.0 GPA, improve my pole vault PR by over two feet in one year, and make tough choices that are not always popular with my peers. I work hard to set a good example by my life choices. I have chosen to pursue pole vault in college. It is a big challenge for me because I started just over a year ago but I love it. I have given up softball, travel softball, and club volleyball so that I can concentrate on pole vault and continue to improve. My goal is to improve by two more feet by the end of my next track season. I love being challenged and that is why I love this sport.
If pole vault was easy, everyone would do it!
