Personal Statement

I started pole vaulting in the spring of my 7th grade year.  Although I have only been pole vaulting four seasons, I am proud of my achievements as a vaulter.  As a freshman, my highlights include placing 3rd in the OHSAA State Track and Field Championship with a jump of 11’8” and achieving the #18 ranking in the country as a freshman according to the final 2018 Mile Split outdoor rankings.  As a sophomore,  I continued to improve with 9 jumps of 12' or more while jumping a personal best 12' 4", which ranked me #22 in the country for sophomores.  I was also awarded the 2019 Fred Dafler Sportsmanship Award for the Northwest Ohio District.  These experiences have reinforced my passion for the sport and have inspired me to dedicate myself to becoming an elite-level college pole vaulter.

In addition to qualifying for the OHSAA State Track and Field Championships in pole vault, I also qualified for two additional events.  The 4X400 meter relay and the 4X200 meter relay teams.  My 4X400 meter relay team placed 3rd in the state with a school record of 3:59.79.

I am fortunate to have coaches at Liberty Benton that are dedicated to coaching pole vault and taught me the fundamentals of the vault. Through this training, I was able to utilize my determination, persistence, discipline, and hard work to accomplish my goals.  In addition to track and field, I am the starting center midfielder for my high school soccer team and we were the first team in school history to make the OHSAA State Finals my junior year when I was named 1st team All Ohio.

In addition to my athletic skills, I have dedicated myself to excel academically and to serve my community through volunteer work.  I’m looking for a program that will fit my athletic and academic aspirations.  Based on my current accomplishments, I know I have the skill, work-ethic, and leadership skills to make an immediate impact on your program.
