Personal Statement
I recently started running track (full-time) in my Junior year. As a youngster, my parents starting me in gymnastics at age 4 (2002). I really did good and skipped from Level 1 to Level 5 and finished 1st place (Level 6) in the 2008 Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic in Columbus, Ohio. I also finished 3rd in the State at level 6. My aspirations then was to get to the Olympics. As I grew and my coaches transferred from my home training site as a gymnast, I concentrated on becoming a cheerleader in which I joined the varsity cheerleader in my sophomore year. In my Freshman year, I had grown to 5'8" and my dad insisted that I should run track full-time in my Junior year. As a sophomore and junior, I continued to do cheerleading and track. In my senior year, I really got serious as a track athlete and decided that track was for me as my number one goal and it was certainly fun. I'm eager to learn and do well. Just as I had aspirations to reach the Olympics as a gymnast, I certainly have those same aspirations to reach the Olympics with HARD WORK and dedication in the High Jump and Hurdles. My dad always told me that there is no limit to what I can achieve, as long as I put in the work. I would love to run track on the collegiate level with a full athletic scholarship along with another grants that may be available to me. I'm really close to my Mom and Dad and would feel very comfortable at an educational institution where I can thrive and continue to receive their support. I certainly understand that I must also strive to do well in the classroom if I want to achieve any goals I have in the field of track.
Thank you.
