Personal Statement
My name is Madison Ambrose, I am a senior currently enrolled at Jenks High School, in Jenks, Oklahoma. I currently maintain a 4.1/5.0 GPA and I am two years ahead in mathematics taking AP Calculus ABby junior year and AP Statistics my senior year, as well as other AP classes. In the Spring of 2016 I was inducted into the National Honor Society (NHS) which I am now the Vice President of, the Society of Torch and Laurel, and the National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS). I love math and science and I plan on pursuing a career that involves one or both fields. At the moment I'm interested in becoming an Anesthesiologist. During the summer of 2016 I attended the National Congress of Future Physicians and Medical Scientist as a Delegate representing Oklahoma at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell and in the summer of 2017 I was invited back as an ambassador.
I started throwing in 8th Grade for the Jenks Middle School team and as soon as I started I knew that it was something that I wanted to excel at. I am currently a thrower for the Jenks Varsity Track and Field and I have competed in USATF meets as an individual athlete. My 8th grade and freshman year I have glided and I am learning to spin this season. During the 2015 Outdoor Track and Field season I competed on the varsity and freshman teams. I competed in all eight of the varsity meets, also in the High School and Freshman Frontier Valley Conference and High School Regionals. I did not qualify to compete at the state meet but the Jenks Girl's Varsity team took first place at the state meet. Additionally, I broke the Freshman Girls Shot Put Record at Jenks High School during my first meet. At the end of the season I my PR was 33'10", beating the previous record, 30'1", that was set in 1998. During my sophomore I had a elbow complication that prevented me from excelling throughout the 2016 season, however, this year I plan on breaking the Junior and the All Around School Record for Girls Shot Put at Jenks High School. In an effort to break this record and focus on track, I've stopped playing softball, I work out everyday, and have attended private lessons where I am also learning to throw hammer. Additionally, as captain of the throws team at Jenks I plan on helping and guiding my teammates to success through their actions both athletically and academically. My goals are to throw 46'5" in Shot Put and 140' in Discus by the end of my senior year.
