Personal Statement
I have been involved in sports since I was 4. I started out doing ballet and gymnastics maybe one month out of the year. I got bored of ballet and went strictly to gymnastics when I was 6. I moved up very fast and skipped levels 2, 3, and 4. I started competing half way through the season. I moved up one level every year, going to state each year. When I got to level 7 I started competing out-of-state in Las Vegas. The following year (level 8) I competed in Dallas, Texas placing 14th all around. I also made the level 8 super team. Meaning the best 8 level 8s in the state. I placed 18 all around at the regional competition in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin.
The following year I was a level 8 again. We competed in Michigan where I received 2nd all around, Florida where I received 3rd. I made the level 8 super team again and went to Kansas City where I received 14th for the region.
The following year I competed level 9. I went to Dallas (7th place), Colorado Springs (5th place), Phoenix (6th place). I got a concussion at state so I was unable to go to regionals or nationals.
The following year my back started hurting but I still competed in Las Vegas (7th place), Colorado Springs (8th place), and Dallas (19th place). http://www.mymeetscores.com/gymnast.pl?gymnastid=227295
I started pole vault half way through my freshman year and jumped 8'6". The following year I was hurt but still jumped 8'6". My junior year I made 10'0" twice. I went to state every year.
I am not afraid of danger but I know when I do not feel comfortable and I will end up getting hurt. I would love to continue pole vaulting into my college years.
I am a very hard worker. I have had several jobs including at Philly Teds, The Scoop (ice cream shop), Lifeguarding, Gymnastics coach, and I am currently a waitress at a restaurant called Perkins. I also help my dad with an electrical sign used for advertising and I run and update it. When I was younger I was a worship team leader for Sunday school where we led the kids in dance and singing.
