Personal Statement
Although being a student athlete takes up much of my time, I remain active in my community. I assist the youth pastor at my church annually with our Vacation Bible School activities and many other special activities throughout the year (picnics/plays).
At school, I am a member of the National Honor Society. One of my favorite yearly activities is our Swamp Fest, where physically challenged youths are given the opportunity to come to our school and compete in athletic and fun events. I also volunteer as many local running events.
Being the youngest of four, I was looking for a sport that I could call my own when I found track and field. I immediately fell in love with running. I have been running for my high school team since my 7th grade year and have lettered each year. This year I was honored to be elected as Co-Captain of our Cross Country and Track teams. I have also made the region team each year. Additionally I was named athlete of the week in our local paper, the Summerville Journal Scene.
My short term goal is to continue to develop both academically and athletically. Both can be reached by focus, commitment and hard work, of which I have no shortage. I hope to be a Physical Therapist one day and am looking for a college to provide me with the proper education needed to proceed to an excellent graduate program.
