Personal Statement
I have many goals and dreams for my life in college and beyond. I truly do love running and competing in track and cross-country. I really enjoy being part of a team that wants to win and succeed at a conference and even national level. My team this past season won the state title in cross-country. Winning state as a team was truly one of the biggest triumphs of my career and one of the most enjoyable. Likewise, one of my main goals is to help my team in college win conference titles and compete well at the national level.
On an individual level, I know my future is in long-distance racing. I believe the longer the race the better I will compete in college. I am excited to run 6km in cross-country, and I want to do the 5000 and even the 10000 on the track. I believe I will be a strong contender at both the conference and national level in those events. I also want to consider trying the Steeplechase in college. Currently my coach is keeping my mileage fairly low, usually under 35 miles a week, so I believe in college as I increase my mileage I will become much stronger in the long distances and my times will improve greatly.
From my non-running standpoint, I want to attend a college that will challenge me academically and prepare me for my post-graduate work. My goal currently is to become a Physician and pursue a career in Pediatrics. Thus, I want to attend a college with a strong pre-med program and that will prepare me academically for the challenges of med school. I believe I will have the academic profile to attend a very competitive university. I have made all A's thus far except for 1 B in Algebra 2 last fall. I made a 1180 on my PSAT last fall as well, so I feel I can attend and thrive at a very strong academic university.
In summary, I want to attend the college that will challenge me not only to be the best runner possible but also prepare me successfully for future in medicine. I believe I can help my team in cross-country and track in the long-distances at both the conference and national level. I am excited to find and attend the college that will help me achieve those goals.
