Personal Statement
I feel like I'll make the perfect student athlete for any college that recruits me because I've been a student athlete for half of my life. I don't miss practice, I don't miss school, and I go to all of my classes. My academic goal is to become a straight "A" student both in high school and in college. I want to use want I learn in college to earn a great living doing what I love while helping others. Coming from a private charter school, to a public high school has prepared me for taking this next step. It taught me how to get along with people that are different from me. I learned how to separate personal goals from team goals. It taught me to respect for people who are in charge. Personally, I'm a serious person but I like to have fun and joke around too. It keeps me loose and it calms my nerves before a race, but when it is time to bring it, I bring it! I'm at my best when it's on me to help my team win. I'm loyal to my school, coaches, and teammates.
I had early signs that I would be good at track and field. My parents told me I went from crawling, to walking, to running all in the same month. I was the fastest kid at my elementary school. The boys would get mad when I beat them. I joined an AAU team at age 8, and went to the Junior Olympics my first year in track and field. All on my coaches said I was a natural. I made the varsity team in my freshman year and broke a couple of school records. I am currently the District 4-6A 400 meter champion. I've been the leader on every track team I've ever been on because I'm always at practice, and I do what my coaches ask me to do. My parents, coaches, teachers and other athletes have been main influences in my life as a person and athlete. That's how I got my drive, determination, and support. My athletic goal is to be among the very best at what I do and help my school win. With the help of your college and track program, I'm confident we will achieve those goals together.
