Personal Statement
I found myself through running, and I could have never guessed how much it would help me grow as a person. Nonetheless, I matured the most as an athlete in my younger years when I competed as a gymnast. That eleven year experience helped me grow as a person and eventually lead me to start running track. My mindset had always been geared towards gymnastics, and I would have never thought that I could have loved any sport as much as that. I was clearly mistaken when I started running, but that was the best mistake I had ever made.
I was lucky enough to be part of a fantastic program, the Leander Spartans, that eventually helped me reach the Junior Olympic level in only my second year of running track. My second year running, I ran the 400 meter relay for the first time. I learned the value of teamwork while running that relay which eventually lead me to my first junior olympic medal. As a competitive athlete for the past thirteen years, I know that I have what it takes to be an essential part of your team!
