Before I joined track and field, I participated in competitive gymnastics for eight years, beginning when I was four years old. Throughout my experience of the sport, I learned dedication, determination, teamwork, leadership, and the ability to be coachable. While I was a gymnast, I was one the fastest on the team, which sparked the idea of me being a track and field athlete into my peers. After I retired from gymnastics, I joined my 8th grade track and field team, and then I joined club and varsity high school track my freshman year. Sophomore year I was voted Varsity Track Captain. Through these teams I have accumulated knowledge about track and field, and being a leader in a team setting. A leader that is there for everyone is necessary for every sports team, and I strive to be that person at every practice and meet.
In the past I have experienced a stress fracture, tendinitis, and numerous sprains, but those injuries inspire me to work at what I love more, so that I can come back stronger. I read somewhere, "One step back is two steps forward”, and I remind myself of that every time I feel as though there is nowhere to turn.
In the classroom I strive for high Bs and As to create more opportunities for myself in the future. I assist my classmates with what they find challenging, and I diligently complete my own work. Through all of this I have been elected Junior Class President for the 2020-2021 school year. When I go on to college I would like to find out what career field interests me and makes me feel comfortable. I also believe that throughout both high school and college I can learn more about myself and the world.
