Personal Statement
I have been running competitively since I was in elementary school. I love the thrill and strategy of racing against the clock and other runners. I am a hard worker with all that I do- in school, personal life and running. Life has thrown some pretty big hardships at me over the course of years, however, I can positively say I am a comeback kid and I refuse to give up. I learn from mistakes and move forward with my successes. My goal right now is to keep moving up the competitive chain by fueling my body nutritionally, paying attention to how I feel emotionally and physically and having fun with what I have at that moment. This being said, I plan to run and be nationally ranked in college.
I am an active member of my church and teach Sunday school for 4-year old’s and teach 3rd grade girls on Wednesday nights at my church. Furthermore, I have been on numerous mission trips and with that I have learned so much about serving the less fortunate. These experiences throughout the years have really led me to pursue my passion for Education and wanting to teach inner city children and third world countries.
Academically, I want to chase my dreams and follow my personal values to love and care for children and families that are broken financially and spiritually. Moreover, I want to make my classroom safe for students to feel welcomed, comforted and safe as well as excited to learn new things. I want to give kids hope and a chance to follow their dreams.
Running has given me confidence and strength in my personal life. Being bullied for several years and having trauma in my past, running has given me a reason to live and enjoy each day. I am blessed to have a family that supports me and has encouraged me to continue my running career competitively in college.
