Being apart of a college level team would open up many opportunities to me as an athlete and as a person. All throughout my high school career, I have been apart of the track and cross country team. Any emotion you could possibly feel towards a sport, I have most likely felt it with these two. There have been moments where my character has been tested and my athletic abilities were pushed to their limits. Running is a sport that involves more of your mind rather than your physical strength. For the past four years that I have been involved with these sports, it has taught me the value of commitment, endurance, and the power of positive thinking. I have attended two different schools during high school because of moving towns, and at both schools there were never many girl runners who were apart of the program because of how difficult it is and how much work there is involved. In cross country especially, there is a lot of character building that comes along with it because of the practices being very early in the morning every weekday before school. This has taught me to hold myself accountable and to maintain will power, which has helped me in school as well and set me apart from the other students. If I were to earn a spot on a college team, I would use my past experience and passion to reach goals I never imagined I could.
