I look forward to studying in the health related field, and although I don't know the exact profession I wish to study, I want to help people live healthier lives. While I am not the best at taking tests, nor in the top ten percent of my elite Woodlands High School class, I don't let that stop me. Academics are tough for me, but it has taught me to be responsible, determined, and hard working. I look forward to where my interests and talents take me.
My main event in track and field is the high jump, but I have found that running has strengthened my jumping. So I would hope to do both events in college. I started track in eighth grade and had 150 meters to cover when the other athletes crossed the finish line for my 4 x 400. But I haven't let that stop me. Now I have a 57.4 split. Some say you should be tall to be a high jumper, yet I have been to many events where my competitors have towered over me, that hasn't stopped me. Now my pr is 5' 9 1/2". Anika McPherson who is 5'4" and an Olympic high jumper can jump fourteen inches over her own body height, and has told me that "we are a new wave of high jumpers, short but powerful". And Coach Marcinkiewicz a retired A & M coach has told me that I have the potential to jump 6'4"...and I believe him. But, I won't let that stop me either.
All that said. I am where I am today because of the support of my family, good coaching opportunities, blessings from above, and A LOT OF HARD WORK.
