I work hard to do my best and I understand hard work pays off. My goal is to throw in college and bring home a National title in one or more of the throws. My ultimate collegiate goal is to help my team win a National title. I dream of one day representing the United States in the Olympics.
Even though I just completed my 9th grade year, I have been exposed to the "big meet" scenario on many occasions. This past year, I won the state champion title in the discus and was state runner-up in the shot put in both the indoor and outdoor seasons. I also won the New Balance outdoor National Jr. High Division title in the javelin and placed sixth in the emerging elite shot put division. I competed in the championship division in the discus and ran the first leg of the 4x100 in the championship division. My split was 11.79.
Other big meets this past year were the Southern Track Classic and the Taco Bell Classic. I was the discus champion at the STC and medaled in the shot put and discus at TBC.
I finished 2014 going undefeated in all meets in which I competed. This includes both middle school and Association, Regionals, and Nationals competitions. I completed my 2014 season with AAU Club National Championships gold medals in the shot put, discus, and javelin. I also broke the meet record in the shot put there. I only learned to throw the javelin four weeks before Nationals and won the championship with a throw of 100' 6".
In 2012, I won the AAU Club Nationals in both shot put and discus breaking the meet record in both. I also won the USATF National Junior Olympics shot put and discus titles that year in Baltimore.
I now know what success tastes like and I love it. I will not quit until I reach my goals. I like challenges. My favorite thing now Is throwing at the big meets where I get challenged to become better. I cannot wait until college to compete on an elite level all the time. I like to make my coaches and my school proud because they take their time and work hard with me. My favorite quote is "You don't know me, but you will."
