My name is Zaria Barnes, I am a rising Junior who will be attending Osbourn Park Senior High School next year. I was taught at a young age never to give up or let your failures crush you from my parents who instilled it in me. I strive to work hard at my goals, both in track and in my dream of working in Forensic Pathology, I want to be the best that I can be, and I am willing to work diligently at my unyielding goals.
I believe that I am a strong competitor and aim to not only improve myself but to better my team and those I work with. I am always open to criticism because I know that criticism shapes people and allows them to grow. I strive to not only be an active athlete but to be the best that I can be in the classroom, and one day in a business, because I know that to become the best athlete I need also to become the best me.
I love running track because it's both a team and individual sport. I enjoy running in relays because they show how a few athletes can come together and create one powerful unit. In addition to running I have a passion for jumping because it gives me "wings" in a way, whether its high jump or long jump. I can not accurately describe the feeling of jumping, it isn't like any other thing I've experienced and I absolutely love it. Even if I don't jump my best I get back out there, because I know that there is something great out there for me and I have to keep working towards it everyday. I believe that my track career has grown since I first started running in 2011, and I trust that I am going to grow with the help of my family, friends, coaches, and teammates.
