12' Vault PRPersonal Statement
I am a very hard worker and one who continually strives to do my best. If I were to choose one or two words to describe myself, they would be competitive and driven. I am competitive not so much with other people, although don't get me wrong--it's great to win!--but more so with myself. I am always trying to get to the next level, and do just a little bit better than I did the day before. I am driven in this respect, always looking for ways to improve my skill set and attain my goals.
As of my 10th grade year, I had cleared 11 feet in pole vault and managed, with only a slightly lower height, to win a very competitive Indoor State Track and Field Championship for pole vaulting. I accomplished this with no indoor coach and spotty extraneous coaching.
My goal is to do what it takes to become an All-American my Junior and Senior years of high school, even if it means traveling weekly to align myself with a good club and coach.
Academics are also very important to me. I was proud to be accepted to the Early College program at Central Virginia Community College. This is a highly competitive program that selects 50 students from the 3 area high schools in our county, plus home school students. It is an honor to be involved.
