June 2016
I ran the 1600 Sprint Medley, Emerging Elite, Section 2, third leg, 400m at New Balance Nationals on June 17th under 1 minute. New Balance Nationals video can be seen at http://www.nbnationalsout.com/eprofile.php?event_id=3689&do=videos&video_id=180235
I competed in the 100 and 400 hurdles, long jump and triple jump in August 2016 at the AAU Junior Olympics. It was my first time in a club and first time competing in the Junior Olympics. What a great learning experience!
After three years with three different coaches I have decided to go into AAU this summer to compete with coaches that are there for you and will go the extra mile with you. In the first two weeks I could feel that I was improving. My goal was to jump over 17' with my new coaches. I was able to do this at the first meet. My goal is to beat 17'2" in the next meet as well as to lower my time of 1:05 in the 400 hurdles.
I have been team captain for two years as a sophomore and junior. This year, during winter track we had a new head coach; in-turn we had our jumping coach quit. I had to train the hurdlers and long jumpers. I had to stay later to work on my own techniques. I still was able to improve my 55 hurdle time.
We placed 4th and 2nd in the 4 x 400 and 4 x 100 relays at Indoor States 2016.
