Personal Statement
I am a sports enthusiast, dedicated student, outgoing friend, and music lover—though most know me by Taliah Coe. During the school year I perform a balancing act between academics, clubs, sports, a job, church, friends, and family that can be trying at times but keeps me focused on my aspirations. Visiting Tijuana, Mexico and San Diego, California in June 2014 on a mission trip made me realize that I wanted nothing more than to attend a DI/DII college on scholarship in Southern California. I immediately fell in love with the rustling palm trees, salty ocean air, and the thought of living in such a beautiful city. I aspire to compete in collegiate track and field at a high level and maintain a 3.7+ GPA while doing so. As a result I labor tirelessly in school, extracurricular activities, and sports so that I may one day achieve these ambitious goals. Though financial hindrances have tried my family, my self-motivation, organization, and will to succeed no matter the odds have been assets to me. My mother taught me at a young age that with a little hard work, I could do anything I set my mind to, so my paraphrased life motto is to relentlessly pursue what sets my soul on fire—sports, education, and family.
