In past seasons, I made huge improvements in short amounts of time. I have been consistent in my distances; when I gain feet I tend to keep throwing at that new distance or farther, which has made me fall in love with finding my faults and working on every key element of proper technique. Over the summer I was able to attend Ironwood throwing camp, which gave me a more personal and higher level learning experience that has greatly modified and improved my form since the last throwing season.
I am incredibly excited to see what this spring has in store for me. My goal for this season is to throw above 130 feet, and for next year to hit 145 or more. This will take a lot of dedication, and I am more than willing to put the time and effort in to meet my goals.
This year has been one of my best when it comes to hunkering down and doing what I need to do academically to set myself up for college. I am currently taking College in High School classes such as history and Spanish so that I will be more prepared when I step into a university. Next year, I will be taking CHS Spanish, CHS English, AP History, and college-level math for my core classes.
Taking on more responsibilities when I turned 16 has made me more determined than ever to perform well in every part of my life, including my job as a gymnastics teacher where I work with children ages 2-14. Besides being at track practices and meets, my favorite thing to do is work with them. Interacting with the kids and helping them grow as gymnasts while teaching them behavioral skills makes me feel a sense of empowerment because I get to be a part of that child's life and bring them joy through my encouragement and enthusiasm toward their learning.
