Personal Statement
Thank you for taking the time to read my personal statement. I am a 6'0" Junior at Ashwaubenon High School in Green Bay, WI. I was voted "Newcomer of the Year" my freshman year along with taking first at the FRCC Conference meet in Shot Put with a toss of 39'11.75". Along with the win, I took the conference record with that toss. I went on to take first at regionals and then first at sectionals in Shot Put. I made it to state and placed 8th with a toss of 38' 8.5".
My Sophomore year I took 3rd in conference after having 6 weeks off because of a dislocated knee cap I sustained throwing discus indoors. I have healed and am back to my 110%. After coming back from my injury I took first in regionals and sectionals. At sectionals I threw 41'5" in Shot Put which is a new personal record for me. At state I took 7th with a throw of 38'11".
The summer before my junior year I competed in the Junior Olympics taking 1st in state and then 3rd in the sectional competition in Omaha, Nebraska. I also spent time throwing with my Club team (Madison Throws Club). I worked on Shot Put, Discus, and Hammer. I fell in love with the hammer I would love to throw it at the college level. I also increased my distance in Discus distance to 106 ft unofficially.
My biggest assets are my leadership, my strength, and being very coachable. I love to learn new ways to improve my abilities. I work harder than anyone in the weight room, in the ring, and studying film to improve my skills. I hate knowing that there was more I could have done to get better.
As a high honor student I'm looking for a school that challenges me in the classroom as well as my athletics. I'm looking to study pre-med or study psychology to become a sports psychologist . My parents raised me to never give up and to never quit once you've started something. So I'm taking my first step, the first of thousands, to becoming a college thrower and student.
