I first stepped on the track when I was in 7th grade at a middle school meet. As soon as I ran my first track meet I knew that It was something I was destined to do. I enjoyed the competitive side of running, as well as having fun while doing so. Although most of the girls I ran against had been running track since they were younger, I knew that it was going to be a challenge to even win against my other competitors. Knowing that, I decided to work harder on and off the track. A year after running track I was able to qualify for the 400 meters USATF Junior Olympics Regional Meet. Although I didn't qualify for USATF Junior Olympic Nationals, I knew that that would be my next goal. The year later I succeeded at that goal and qualified for nationals in the 400 meter relay The year after, I qualified for the 4x400 meter relay and the 4x100 meter relay. Last year I also qualified for Nationals in the 4x100 meter relay, making it three times going to Nationals. I also have qualified for the WIAA Regional Track Meet in the 4x200 meter relay, and the 4x400 meter relay as a freshmen. During my sophomore year (last year 2014) I also qualified for the WIAA Regional and Sectional meet for the 4x400 meter dash. Right now I am the team captain of the Rufus King Girls Track Club. I take being the team captain very seriously. My teammates look up to me, as being someone that is relatable, honest, and hard working. I am not only able to push myself in being the best I can be but I also take on the role of an encourager for my teammates to be the best they could possibly be.
Having been running track for almost four years, I realize and understand that it isn't just about running, but in fact it is about sacrifice, dedication, and success. I know that in order to become a winner, one must behave like one, and that is what I am. I am a leader and winner.
