Personal Statement
Hi!
My name is Jenna Lederman. Being the youngest of 4 kids in my family, I’ve been exposed to a lot of sports. I think having 2 older brothers definitely brought out my competitive side. I also have been very fortunate to have parents who have supported and watched me while I competed in baseball, gymnastics, soccer, volleyball, track, cross country, and even powder puff football.
The first time I ran a competitive 800M was in 2006, (I was almost 8) and I won it! That was when I knew running may be for me. I started running 5ks with my dad when I was 10, and joined cross country and track in middle school. The highlight of my cross country career (so far) was in 2012. I had a PR on my 4k of 15:06, and our team won the Sectional meet! High school track has been even more rewarding. I have enjoyed competing in many different events ranging from the open 400M, 800M, and 1600M to being part of the 4x400 and 4x800 relay teams.
This season I hope to bring down my PRs and look forward to Muskego having a great season as a team. In addition to keeping my grades up in school, a goal of mine is to medal in an individual event at the State meet in La Crosse in June 2015.
Looking to the future, I would like to compete at the collegiate level in track and cross country. I hope to make a positive impact on whatever team I am part of, and I look forward to the comradery that comes with being part of a team. I also am looking forward to the entire college experience – including making new friends, getting a good education, and experiencing life in the dorms.
