Before my sophomore year of high school, I had never ran track. I started off playing soccer when I was about four years old and played throughout my years. I played club soccer and varsity soccer my freshman year of high school. I also played one year of volleyball. When spring of sophomore year rolled around I decided that I wanted to try something new and be a part of something different. I had an amazing first year running track. After winning city indoor conference, city outdoor conference, state indoor and state outdoor, I thought it couldn't get any better. But it did, I decided to run AAU track with The Wings of Glory track club. At first, I felt out of place because I'd never ran track before and the majority of the team had been running for most of their lives. As time went on, I became more comfortable. It was a long summer of work and dedication but it payed off. My relay (4x4) and I placed 7th at nationals and were named All American. As I learned more about myself I became more confident. I noticed that I am capable of doing much more than I think I am. If I put the time and effort into something, I will be successful. I am looking forward to continuing my track career in high school and also hoping to be able to compete at the college level.
