I would like to compete in collegiate track and field. I have done track and field since I was 7 years old. Since I have been 7, I have always loved the feeling I get when I step onto the track. I am a hard worker, dedicated, I set goals, and am driven. Those things would make me a good candidate for a team. I recently underwent surgery on my legs in the fall of 2016, as I had compartment syndrome. The year I am recovering, and have set very high goals for myself as I would like to make it to the state meet again. Needing surgery has pushed me to do the best I can and strive for my goals. While going through the surgery process, and recovery time, I set the goal to compete at the state meet. I knew this goal was going to be challenging as I was not able to start running until March of the season. This pushed me to take my training everyday seriously, and to also focus on recovery so I would be able to run well at practice the next day. I did reach my goal of competing at the state meet, where I ran my best time in that event. Surgery was difficult, both physically and mentally, but I think it was a blessing. It taught me to work hard, to be determined, and to never give up. These qualities are useful on the track, and in life itself.
Regarding academics, I strive to maintain a high GPA while taking challenging classes. I also am involved in many clubs such as National Honor Society, as well as being an officer for the club, and Student Council. In college, I would like to take a Pre-Med track, pursuing a majoring in Biochemistry or Biological Sciences, along with pursuing a minor in Spanish. I would like to then attend medical school following graduating college. Once I have graduated medical school, I would like to also volunteer working in third world countries providing medical services to those in need.
I would like to attend a college where I can excel and push myself academically and athletically. I would like to find the school that is the right fit for me where I am able to compete at the highest level possible.
