Hello, my name is Micaela Creighton and I am currently a rising senior at South Milwaukee High School. I have been involved in competitive sports ever since I can remember, but soon after I discovered track and field it became my passion. I have been running with the Milwaukee Mustangs Track Club for over 5 years, and the additional training and competition experience has helped me progress greatly as both a long jumper and a sprinter.
I have won the long jump both times I've competed at the Wisconsin State Indoor Championship, during my freshman and junior years. I am a 6-time WIAA Outdoor State qualifier, not only in the long jump, but also including the sprint relays. I am a very determined individual, and firmly believe that the hardships and adversity I have had to overcome in the past years has only made me stronger, both physically and mentally.
My work ethic can also be seen in the classroom, as I have been considered a “High Honors” student since freshman year, always maintaining an unweighted above a 3.8. I have taken many accelerated classes along with college level and AP courses. I received a composite score of 1720 on the SAT in January, and a 32 on the ACT in June.
I have seen first-hand how hard work and determination does pay off, and I am very willing to continue working as hard as I can and putting the effort that is needed into this sport in order to compete at the next level. I would love to have the opportunity to run track and field in college, and believe that I have the drive and motivation to make the best of it.
Overall, I will continue to work towards being the best student-athlete I can possibly be. It has always been my goal to not only achieve my potential, but to surpass it. Ideally I'd like to attend a college that possesses both strong academics and athletics. I would love have the opportunity to be part of a unified and supportive track and field team that provides the competitive atmosphere and knowledge necessary to help student-athletes strive to compete at their best.
Thank you and best regards, Micaela Creighton.
