I started my track and cross-country "career" later than most kids I know. I was playing soccer throughout my elementary, junior high and first semester of high school in AYSO. I made the high school soccer team in my freshman year. Every time I went on the field, my family would comment on how fast I ran back and forth to get the ball, and suggested I try out for track in the Spring of my freshman year. I was hooked! The following Fall, I went right into my first time running cross-country. Ever since then, running has been my thing. I LOVE training year round.
My dream is to go to college to run cross-country and track. I want to go to college for a degree in Sports Management and am interested in a number of roles under that major.
One of my goals is to work hard on my high school academics. I have been on an IEP for all of my elementary, Junior High and High School years. I put in a lot of extra effort that most kids don't have to, due to my learning disabilities. I think I have done a great job, especially now that I am in college prep courses and am doing as well as kids who do not have disabilities. I now have a 504 set up for my Senior year and into college.
My favorite goal is to always hit a PR every time I run. It makes me feel great about myself when I set that goal at the beginning of a race, and get my PR at the end of the race. I continue to set high standards for myself, not only during the track and cross-country seasons, but also off-season.
Among the top achievements for me in running are:
I would appreciate the opportunity to run in college, especially if they offered me a scholarship. I am enjoying the process of searching for college and all the possibilities that could come from finding the right fit for me for my future.
