Personal Statement
I am excited to begin a new stage in my life and attend college while competing at a collegiate level. I have been a gymnast since I could walk, and continued into athletics when my family moved to Wyoming. Sports are my passion and my driving force. I have played varsity level sports in high school, making the varsity volleyball team, varsity basketball team, varsity softball and varsity track team since my freshman year. I have been privileged to be a part of the State Champion Girls 3A track team for the three years I have been at Cody High School, as well as the State Champion Cody Pride Softball Team. This past year, I gave up basketball to begin indoor track where I discovered a new passion in pole vaulting. Coach Shaffer took an interest in my natural abilities, and after learning to vault in December of 2014, I was privileged to win the State Indoor Track Pole Vaulting Championship a few short months later. (Indoor track in Wyoming includes all divisions, 1A-4A, for competitors.) This championship was a highlight of my athletic career and continued to fuel my desire to improve and compete. Due to injury, I was only able to place 3rd at the State Outdoor 3A championship, but I was able to vault the same winning height and am looking forward to the challenge again this year. I believe that I would be a great candidate for many teams due to my work ethic, natural ability, and drive. Academically, I strive to succeed in all of my areas of study. Additionally, I am personable and able to get along with many personality types.
