Personal Statement
I have always loved the sport of track and field and I would like to continue the passion I have for it into college. I have been competing since I was very little and through my whole career, I always give my best effort to win and if not, at least get a new personal best. I also compete in basketball and volleyball at the varsity level, so I am a very versatile athlete. However, track has always been my favorite and I always look forward to track season more than anything else. I have a very competitive mind set to win and do my best. I am an extremely hard worker and always strive to better myself in all that I do. By pushing myself to new levels, I also push my teammate and set examples for everyone. I am a great team member and friend to everyone. If I am not bettering myself, I am helping teammates with their events and technique or cheering them on. I take competition very seriously, but I also have so much fun jumping and doing what I love.
Recently at the 2014 Wyoming state meet, I was determined to get a new personal record. I had been jumping consistently in the 17's all season but I wanted to beat my best jump of 17'4". I was sitting 6th in the prelims with a jump I wasn't happy with. I knew I had to step up. On my last few jumps, I still wasn't happy with my performance. On my last and final jump I knew that I was going to do what I had worked or all season and get a new personal record. I wanted it more than anything! I exploded off the board and on my last jump at the state finals, I got a new personal best, re-broke the school record, and placed 4th overall. I know how to compete at a high level and I always step up to the plate. I love being challenged and pushed to new abilities.
I know very well that you cannot succeed on the track if you do not do well in the classroom. I always push myself to my full potential in my classes and work not only for athletics, but most importantly so I can get a good degree. I am an all 'A's student and I intend to keep it that way through my whole high school career. I love being in the school environment and taking in new knowledge. I am often praised for my exceptional work and drive in the classroom. I am a part of National Honor Society, I have been awarded the Overall Technology Student Award along with the Overall Health Student Award, and I also volunteer at the local nursing home. Along with the classroom, I feel that giving back to the community is a huge part of being an athlete and an example for others.
Thank you for visiting my profile. I am very excited to see what my future holds for me. I would love to bring my passion and abilities in track to the college level. I am interested in attending a university that offers high competition that will push me to a new level of my abilities. I am also very open to doing new events and possibly becoming a multi-event competitor.
