Standing on top of the podium at the 2020 Wyoming State Indoor Championships with my 4x800 meter relay team was exhilarating. Being a three-sport varsity athlete, and winning a state title sparked my determination to want to pursue running at a collegiate level. I started competitive sports at age eight with swimming, and continued swimming through my sophomore year. As for running, I started in sixth grade with cross country and outdoor track. I ran cross country through junior high, but ended up swimming the first two years of high school due to overlapping seasons in Wyoming. I will be running cross country instead of swimming for my junior and senior years of high school, as well as running indoor and outdoor track. With my athletic experience I have trained under a multitude of coaches, and I have been able to trust them and complete their training at a high level. I have formed strong relationships with my teammates on and off the track.
I have found that I am dedicated, determined, competitive, and I’m able to handle a hectic schedule, all while maintaining a 4.00 GPA. I aspire to be a valedictorian and I am enrolled in enrichment, college credit courses, and advanced placement classes. In college, I know that I will be able to tackle the rigorous course load and practice schedule expected by college athletes. I’ve had to overcome the challenges of maintaining my daily schedule with year-round practices, school work and grades, along with a lifeguarding job. If I have the privilege to sign with your program I can assure you that I will be fully committed to my fellow teammates, the coaching staff, and be a great ambassador for the university.
