Personal Statement
I’ve have always been a hard working student-athlete. I realize the importance of studying hard, and giving all I can both on and off the court.
As an active member in my community, and as a role model to younger generations of Chugiak, Alaska; I take the responsibility to be successful seriously. I aspire to succeed for myself, my family, and peers. I do everything I can to help support and better my team. I am a versatile player. If my team needs me to play a position besides my primary position, I gladly do so. I believe this is a form of leadership.
Over the years and with the participation in Proactive Coaching seminars I have learned many effective ways to lead my team. "A great leader is the first to give credit, and the last to take credit". This statement made an impression on me, because of it’s truth and how it pertains to life and sports. For example, a middle kill is thought of as a huge deal. However, it isn't just the middle who got the kill. It is the pass, and the set that your team worked for that provided you with the opportunity to kill the ball. It is essential that you recognize your teammates hard work before your own.
I look forward to the new and exciting opportunities attending college will provide. Playing volleyball would be an essential and enhancing part of my collegiate experience. Lastly, I would like to end by expressing how passionate I am for the sport. Volleyball has always been there for me, for as long as I can remember. I can't imagine volleyball not being a part of my life.
