Personal Statement

Hi, my name is Aniyah Robinson. I attend Jacksonville High School where I am the outside hitter of the varsity volleyball team. I have been playing volleyball for seven years; five of those years have been on the the school teams at Jacksonville. My 7-8th grade years I played on junior high; 9-10th on the junior varsity; and this year,my junior year, on varsity. I found out my 9th grade year on the team that I had a true love for volleyball and could see myself extending my career of it beyond high school. I come from a family of true basketball players but when I told them that I was hanging up my shorts for spandex they weren't surprised because they saw that love I had too. When my 9th grade season was over I told my mom I wanted to travel in volleyball, so she made that happen and I began my first season of club volleyball. Not only did it improve my skill but it set forth confirmation for me that volleyball was my sport. I'm normally a shy, timid person but when I step on the court and that whistle blows I'm focused, loud, and thinking ahead to push the next point for my team- it's like a home away from home for me.I always say where there is a team there is togetherness and that's why I strive to be a leader rather than like a boss for my team because a leader pulls his team along with him to success rather than just telling his team what to do to get there. While staying on top of my game I also stay on top of my grades and being apart of the community and I am apart of the Honore Society, Key Club, FFA, and Spanish Club. As my seasons progress I will keep you updated so you too can be apart of my journey.

Thank You,

Aniyah Robinson
