Payton Johnson '24 Recruiting Profile

My name is Payton Johnson, I am born and raised in a small town, Prescott Arizona. I am 5'8 and my main position is an outside hitter. I've been playing volleyball for a total of 9 years and club for about 5 years. My freshman year I made JV but then was brought up to varsity for playoffs, since then I've been a starter on varsity. I've gained mental strength throughout my high school career with the challenges we had during these seasons. Even though I'm young for my grade I've always been put on club teams with girls several years older than me. Because I was from a small town my club teammates changed every season, it pushed me to be able to connect and play with all different players. It has helped me to become a multi-position volleyball athlete both in club and high school.  Volleyball also taught me to have sportsmanship, leadership, and discipline. Throughout my years I have learned the importance of building my teammates up and creating a bond on and off of the court.

"Payton is the best player on my team this year. Her love and joy for the game extends to her teammates on and off the court. In practice and games, Payton is always asking for feedback, and even more, she is able to implement said feedback right away. Although vocal, Payton is not the loudest voice you’d hear in a gym. Still, her unmistakable presence and drive for excellence and her ability to show up every single practice and game with unyielding intensity make her loud. Her efficiency in high-ball and quick-tempo offense makes her a force at the net. Her ability to serve and pass has earned her invaluable minutes playing all around. In addition, Payton’s skill in setting allows me to run a 6-2 against certain opponents. I genuinely believe Payton would be a valuable asset to any collegiate team. - Coach Bernie"
