My name is Morgan Wright and I attend Cienega High School in Vail, AZ (just outside Tucson). I will graduate in May 2017. I am very interested in playing volleyball at the collegiate level. I was born in San Antonio, TX to a military family and have been raised in a very disciplined environment. I grew up playing several sports (soccer, basketball, softball), but have decided that volleyball is the sport I will pursue while in college.
I am open to playing any position in college, but have been utilized as a DS/L this past club season (Zona 17-1), due to my strong passing and back-row skills. We are a competitive travel team, competing in the AZ Open Division. This year we competed at USAV Junior Nationals in Indianapolis in the 17 USA div. I have considerable experience as an OH as well (high school team and previous 4 years of club). I am a starting OH this fall on the Cienega HS Varsity team.
Once enrolled in college, I am considering a major in the health sciences (likely nursing). I am a strong student, taking honors/AP courses (unweighted GPA 3.89; class rank #14/475) and am a member of National Honor Society. I am surrounded by well-educated mentors (both parents & two oldest brothers have graduate degrees, next older brother currently in college). I am a Christian and my family maintains current membership at El Camino Baptist Church, where I attend Sunday school classes and volunteer in the Children’s department. My hobbies include horseback riding and traveling (I have visited several countries outside the US).
I am a very hard worker with a great passion and desire to continue playing volleyball while a student-athlete in college. I am considering a wide range of possible schools (public & private). Ultimately my goal is to play for a high-quality program where my talents are needed, while earning my degree. Having a college degree is crucial in today’s competitive employment markets, so I am focused on making that happen and will certainly welcome the opportunity to play volleyball at the same time. Thank you for taking the time to review my profile and videos. I am eager to answer any questions you may have.
