Personal Statement
I am Emily Armstrong, a senior from Lonoke High school in Arkansas. Getting to move up as a freshman to play with the varsity team has been the highlight of my high school career, because no other player from Lonoke has ever gotten to move up, much less start and play Varsity in the state tournament. As a player, I have grown the most from getting to go to Nationals with my club team. I got to see all of the other competitors who played the same position as I do, and every time I step into the gym I think about how I want to be recognized over all of the other teams and setters inside of the gym. I spend hours in the shop behind my house practicing my setting, serving, and footwork in each of the positions on the court.
I have been very fortunate to have played on a national qualifying team for the past 4 years. Through getting to interact with new players each year in club ball, I have learned the power of teamwork and dedication that every single person on the court has to put in. I have also learned how to be a compatible leader, no matter who I am playing with nor against. Not only do I know that I have what it takes to play collegiate level volleyball, but I also know that I have what it takes to be a leader on your team.
