Hello my name is Brenda Martinez,
I am a sophomore attending Grossmont College in San Diego, Ca. I graduated Southwest High school in El Centro Ca in 2015, where I was an outstanding athlete.
I have been playing volleyball for eight years, as a setter and opposite. I played club volleyball for five years and high school volleyball for 4 years. During those four years, I was awarded MVP and Set Up Artist Award of the year for volleyball. For my high school volleyball team, I played Junior Varsity for one year and Varsity my last 3 years. I attended SDSU volley camp for two years in a row. I also played other varsity sport teams during high school, among them were basketball, track, and swim. I was awarded MVP for both the basketball and the track team.
I attended Penn State Beaver for Fall 2015- Spring 2016 and played on their volleyball team. During that time, I was awarded the 2015 WPCC/PSUAC Challenge MVP award. I finished the season getting First-Team-All-Conference.
I am a disciplined, responsible, and coachable athlete. Volleyball has always been my passion and I never give up on the game. I always work hard, on and off the court. My love for this sport has been my drive and my adrenaline to work hard on the court and prove to myself that practice will always make better. I take criticism and negativity as motivation to strive forward and push harder. I believe there’s always room for improvement, regardless of how much you’ve already accomplished.
At the end of this Fall 2017, I will be graduating with my associates in Administration of Justice from Grossmont College. My plan is to major in Forensic Biology or Criminal Justice and pursue a job in Law Enforcement.
