College is what you make it, and i intend on making my college experience the best one. As a child I aimed to become a doctor and pursue in the medical field. My goal is to provide care to people that have health complications such as my father who died from a heart attack. His death was devastating and crucial to overcome but his death inspired me to help others that are suffering from health difficulties. I want to pursue medicine and make my family proud.
I was raised in a low-income family. My mother worked extremely hard to raise my family and I. Through the hard times I learned determination and perseverance and I put those qualities into Volleyball to make me a better teammate and player. Through playing Volleyball in school and in club I learned how to work well with others and to appreciate what I had on and off the court. Having heart disease run in my family it is very important that I stay active and and healthy and Volleyball has helped me keep that goal of staying healthy. I have played Volleyball since the beginning of high school and keep trying to improve my skills everyday. I have also been on Varsity since my tenth grade year and up. I am passionate about the sport because it has helped me have a better high school experience.
I used to be insecure about my height until I begin to realize how much of an advantage it is to be tall. Volleyball was my first sport I ever played and it helped me develop confidence and want more goals for myself. It made me feel pleasant to know that my height was appreciated and valuable in a sport like Volleyball. The sport lead me to form friendships, a great relationship with my coaches, and is an amazing outlet.
I have had determination my entire life. Even after my father's death I tried to stay high in spirits and have determination to not give up and prevail. I have played volleyball since my ninth grade year in high school and have improved greatly and I still try to become a better player everyday. I have maintained a 3.0 grade point average and am apart of a program called Upward Bound, that help low-income students go to college. I have devoted my time to my family and Volleyball to become a better student and prepare for the future ahead of me.
