Hi! My name is Marlena Zimmermann,
I started playing volleyball when I was very young in my uncle's backyard. My sister and my cousin, who are four years older than I am, decided to play club volleyball after years of just playing on the grass in the yard. After going to all their tournaments with them and getting close to their teammates and coaches as if they were family, I picked up on the knowledge of the game, and decided that I wanted to play club as well, so here I am after years of club, hoping to continue my career in the sport wherever it fits best! Of course, I feel that academics and comfort will come first in my decisions about college.
I like to challenge myself to take more difficult classes. Sometimes they can be a struggle, and my grades are not perfect, but I do the best I can and I would like to continue to challenge myself academically at the collegiate level. After years of being around the sport, I have noticed that I can be very hard on myself at times, but I also noticed that playing helps me forget about anything else going on in my life; if something is bothering me or stressing me out, whether I go to practice or have a tournament, volleyball helps me to forget about it, which is why I love playing. So, hopefully I can continue to play at the collegiate level in a couple years!
