Personal Statement
My name is Madeline Duncan. I am a Senior at Grand Terrace High School in California. I am a starting middle on the Varsity team. I am also playing for Rancho Valley Volleyball Club. I am 5'7, 145 lbs, and I currently have an approach jump of 8'11, which I am working on improving. I have played volleyball since I was in 5th grade and totally love it. This is my fourth year playing club volleyball and I really enjoy traveling to tournaments and meeting other players. I also find that working with different coaches has given me different perspectives for improving my skills. I've learned lots from volleyball that I have applied to my life, such qualities as perseverance, which has helped me through all my honors and AP classes. I am striving for all A's in my academics and have a 3.8 GPA. I would like to play for a college volleyball team at a school that has a respected medical program. I would like to become a pediatrician. I love working with children and currently volunteer in the children's ministry working with two and three year olds at my church. I would also like to someday be a volleyball coach and to help girls develop a strong self image. I have learned to be confident, strong, determined and capable through playing volleyball. I am open minded about going to another state for college and I enjoy traveling. However, financial aid and or scholarships would make going to a more expensive school much less stress on my family. I have two siblings who are also planning on going to college. I plan to receive volleyball scholarships and or merit-based scholarships. I know my desired field of medicine is very expensive and will take many years, but I am prepared to do what it takes. My goals for playing volleyball in college are to have lots of fun representing my school to the best of my ability, have a positive impact on my fellow teammates, and to live a fit and healthy lifestyle. I also intend to be a successful doctor to help the younger generations. I give 110% and am determined to achieve it all! Thank you for taking your precious time to get to know me a little better. I look forward to learning more about your college volleyball program. I hope that I can be a good fit for your team.
