Personal Statement
My goal in college is to major in Biology and then to attend medical school to study to become a pediatrician. I attended a private school for twelve years where academic rigor was the norm. Being immersed in this healthy competitive environment has taught me to always push myself to do well. Culturally, it has been engrained in me to work hard and get good grades. I am taking honors and advanced placement classes. I was nominated student of the month my Freshmen year in high school. I am currently ranked 11th in my class standing of approximately 500 Freshmen. In addition to my demanding academic schedule, I am also very involved with my church. My religion is a huge part of my life. Our church has a program specifically geared toward young women ages 12 through 18 where we learn things and accomplish goals that help grow and develop our moral character. I have earned the “Young Women in Recognition” award which is comparable to earning the Eagle Scout for young men. Although the church requires you to only earn it once, I am currently striving to earn it a second time because it helps me to continue to serve others, acquire spiritual knowledge, and develop my character in my youth.
My other goal in college is to be the starting libero for a reputable school. I’m a good candidate for your team because I strongly believe in teamwork. As a libero, I shoulder the responsibility for initiating the web of teamwork with a good pass to the setter. My teammates can depend on me for a good pass. What distinguishes me the most from any other player is my height. I am 4’11”! I use my height to my advantage. Being closer to the floor, I can effectively dig and pass balls. I love to attack the ball whenever the ball is set to me. When playing against a team, I do not let height of an opposing team intimidate me. Instead, the taller the player the more excited I get and the more I want them to hit it to me. It is such an adrenaline rush for me when I get those clean and tight ups on a hit! Although I made the JV team my Freshmen year, I was moved up to Varsity towards the end of the season when Varsity made the CIF playoffs. I was named, “Most Valuable Player” on my JV team. As a Sophomore, I’m the starting libero for Varsity. We were undefeated in our league.
Thank you for considering me for your school!
